A Taste of the Sea in Carlsbad
A visit to Carlsbad is not complete without a taste of the sea. Carlsbad is a charming coastal village just a short walk to the beach. Being only minutes from the Pacific Ocean it has some of the best seafood and sushi restaurants in the San Diego Area. Here is a list of some of our favorite amazing seafood and sushi restaurants:
1) The Land & Water Co. – a taste of the sea
We serve only the very best from the land and water. Responsible, traceable seafood, humanely raised and purely natural terrestrial proteins…organically grown and locally harvested produce. Our seasonal menu is crafted from scratch by our chefs, who contribute years of experience into each dish.

4) Blue Ocean Robata & Sushi Bar
A local favorite of Japanese taste of the sea cuisine dining from the esteemed Chef David A. Schiraldo. Nozomi has excellent service, an amazing experience and incredible sushi. In different regions of Japan, chefs roll it and arrange it on the plate according to their own styles, and they spend years learning the craft of sushi-making. Sushi is a Japanese-inspired work of art.
“Sushi is an art form, where the rice is celebrated and the fish is only complimentary”.
6)Pelly’s Fish Market – a taste of the sea
Carlsbad is seafood market that also has a simple menu and dining area (similar to Point Loma Seafood). Nothing fancy, but the fish has always been fresh and the cost is reasonable. Great for a casual lunch or early dinner, they close very early, I think 7:00pm. Basic plates include a nice sized piece of char-grilled fish (snapper/mahi mahi/local shark/local halibut/sea bass/ahi/norwegian salmon) with spanish rice and salad, costing $8.95-10.95, and they always have a few market price specials. You can also get a sandwich made with any of the previous fish, as well as excellent shrimp & fish tacos, oysters, seafood salads (bay shrimp/crab/smoked fish/fresh ono), homemade clam chowder, and seafood cocktails!
