Carlsbad Food Tours Featured on MSNBC’s Your Business

When I first started Carlsbad Food Tours in 2014, my goal was simple: share the stories, flavors, and hidden gems of Carlsbad Village with visitors and locals alike. What began as a passion project inspired by food tours we experienced while traveling has grown into one of Carlsbad’s most popular attractions. Along the way, we were honored to be featured on MSNBC’s Your Business, a national television program dedicated to highlighting successful small businesses and entrepreneurs.

Bringing Attention to Local Businesses

The MSNBC segment, “Tour Traffic: Working Up an Appetite for Local Businesses,” highlighted how food tours can help support local restaurants, specialty shops, and small business owners while providing visitors with a unique way to experience a destination. Rather than simply dining at one restaurant, guests have the opportunity to visit multiple establishments, meet the people behind the businesses, and discover the stories that make a community special.

For Carlsbad Food Tours, this mission has always been at the heart of what we do. We believe food is more than something we eat—it tells the story of a neighborhood’s people, culture, history, and traditions.

More Than a Food Tour

Today, our tours continue to introduce guests to the best of Carlsbad Village through a combination of food, history, art, architecture, and local storytelling. During a typical tour, guests enjoy curated tastings from locally loved restaurants while learning about the city’s history, public art, coastal culture, and entrepreneurial spirit.

Visitors often tell us that what surprised them most wasn’t just the food—it was discovering how much history, creativity, and community spirit exists within a few walkable blocks of Carlsbad Village. Many leave feeling like locals after just a few hours.

Supporting Carlsbad’s Culinary Community

Over the years, Carlsbad has evolved into one of Southern California’s most exciting culinary destinations. From family-owned neighborhood favorites to award-winning restaurants, the city offers an incredible variety of dining experiences.

Food tours help shine a spotlight on these local businesses by introducing guests to restaurants they may never have discovered on their own. It’s a win-win situation: visitors enjoy an authentic experience while local restaurants gain new customers and increased visibility.

A Recognition We Will Always Appreciate

Being featured on a national television program like MSNBC was an exciting milestone for our small business. More importantly, it helped showcase Carlsbad as a destination worth exploring and highlighted the value of supporting local businesses through experiential tourism.

More than a decade after launching, our mission remains the same: to help people experience Carlsbad through its food, stories, and community. Every tour is an opportunity to connect visitors with the people and places that make our coastal village so special.

Experience Carlsbad Like a Local

Whether you’re visiting Carlsbad for the first time or have lived here for years, a food tour offers a fresh perspective on the city. You’ll discover hidden gems, meet passionate local business owners, and enjoy a delicious journey through one of Southern California’s most charming coastal communities.

Taste the Food. Hear the Stories. Live the Local Experience.
