5 Ways to become a local when moving to a new city!

While you can jump online to learn about a city, its cost of living, its location, and reputation, you need to explore it to really become a local. And that requires the boots on the ground approach to getting to know people, places and stories that make the city unique. It requires kicking through your new city’s underbelly, learning its lingo, and embracing its quirks.

Here are some ideas:

  1. Go on a Food Tour and become a local in 3 hours. Learn about the city’s history, culture, and architecture. While eating and drinking at local hot spots.
  2. Go to the local coffee shops and hang out, get a cup of coffee, and just absorb the environment.
  3. Get drinks at one of the most well-known bars in town, chat with the local people.
  4. Buy clothes that suit the area. Put your sandals on when you come to the coast, look and dress like the locals do.
  5. Wander everywhere, note small, local places, and visit them at some point. If you want to be local, find out what the local do. Go to the beach, surf, or watch them surf. Sunset walks along the coast is a great way to feel one with the neighborhood and don’t forget to bring your dog, they love exploring as well.
