Meet the Family
The Morton family entered the restaurant business in 1969 with the opening of the original Brigantine seafood restaurant in Point Loma.
Inspired by Mexican and Baja recipes shared by family and friends, the Mortons opened the first Miguel’s Cocina in Coronado in 1982. The concept grew carefully across San Diego County while remaining part of the family-owned Brigantine restaurant group.
Today, Mike Morton Jr. serves as president and CEO of the company.
Coming to Carlsbad
Miguel’s Cocina opened its Carlsbad location on April 2, 2012, on Avenida Encinas near the coast.
The restaurant introduced Carlsbad diners to the company’s familiar combination of Mexican comfort food, seafood, margaritas, and family-friendly hospitality.
