From Costa Rica to San Diego
The story of Pure Project began far from Carlsbad.
Founders Mat Robar, Winslow Sawyer, and Jesse Pine shared a vision of creating a different kind of brewery—one built around exceptional beer, creativity, community, and respect for the natural world.
The roots of the company began with the founders’ experiences in Costa Rica, a country known for its biodiversity and commitment to environmental conservation.
Inspired by the idea of creating exceptional beer while giving back to the planet, they eventually brought their vision to San Diego.
Pure Project opened its first brewery and tasting room in Miramar in 2016.
From the beginning, the goal was larger than simply brewing beer.
